A Journey to Remember

There’s something about riding that brings you closer to the world — the landscapes, the people, the flavors, the history. It’s not just travel; it’s connection.

In July, my husband Chad and I returned to Portugal for our second motorcycle adventure with 2RidePortugal, led once again by the ever-reliable Sérgio Lopes. This time, we were joined by Lucíllia, who captured the journey through her lens as a photographer and videographer, while riding passenger with Sérgio.

What followed was a week-long ride filled with mountain roads, ancient sites, seafood feasts, and unforgettable moments. Here’s my story.

The Trip

My husband Chad and I just finished a wonderful week-long motorcycle ride with Sérgio Lopes and 2RidePortugal in the month of July. This was our second ride with Sérgio, this time we also had the pleasure of riding with Lucíllia, who was chief photographer and navigator.

The Route

What a great trip! We again rented bikes from LX Rent in Lisbon, then rode north to Galicia and returned south via the Atlantic coast. Some of the places we visited or stayed included Viseu, Alfândega da Fé, Ponferrada, Ourense, Vouzela and Foz do Arelho.

The Experience

We rode on mountain roads, through small villages, visited Roman ruins, hot springs, Knights Templar castles, and even the largest open pit gold mine of the ancient Roman empire.

The Food

We enjoyed amazing food and drink, including all types of wines, tender octopus, and some delicacies like razor mussels and barnacles.

The Recomendation

I highly recommend this trip – thank you Sergio for another fantastic experience.

When the Road Calls, Anything Is Possible

As I look back, I’m still amazed by everything we experienced in just eight days — ancient history, natural beauty, delicious local cuisine, and that deep sense of freedom that only a motorcycle journey can give.

With the right people guiding the way, journeys like this don’t just happen — they’re created. And I’m grateful to have lived it.

If this adventure showed me anything, it’s that with 2RidePortugal, the road is always open — and everything is possible.
